Privacy Policy
Nomi Travel is a private travel companion app. Your trips, routes, photos, receipts, price comparisons, profile data, and saved travel records are stored for your own signed-in account and are not made public to other users.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Nomi Travel ("Nomi," "we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, stores, and deletes information when you use the app. Nomi helps you plan trips, record travel routes, save travel logs, scan receipts, compare local prices, check exchange rates, view maps, look up travel-related information, and customize your private travel profile.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on which features you use, Nomi may collect or store the following information:
- Account information, such as user ID, email address, display name, sign-in provider, and authentication records.
- Profile information, such as profile photos, profile background images, stickers, display name, and saved profile settings.
- Travel information, such as trip names, destinations, countries, dates, routes, distance, travel days, notes, photos, and saved travel records.
- Location information, such as precise GPS coordinates, timestamps, route points, map positions, and location tags for travel records.
- Photos and videos that you choose, capture, import, or save in the app.
- Receipt information, such as receipt images, OCR text, merchant text, amount, currency, date, and related scan metadata.
- Price comparison information, such as product names, prices, currencies, photos, store/place information, addresses, map coordinates, and notes.
- Search and lookup information needed to provide exchange rates, place search, map views, flight-related lookup, and travel context.
- Device and app information, such as app events, diagnostics, crash data, performance data, language, notification settings, and push notification tokens.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Nomi, including to:
- Create and protect your account.
- Save and sync your private travel logs, routes, photos, receipts, price comparisons, and profile data.
- Display maps, record travel routes, calculate distances, and organize travel history.
- Scan receipts and extract travel purchase information.
- Provide exchange-rate, place, map, and flight-related features.
- Restore your data when you reinstall the app and sign in again.
- Send optional notifications after you grant permission.
- Improve reliability, diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, protect backend APIs, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your precise location for third-party advertising. We do not use your data for third-party advertising tracking.
4. Permissions
Nomi may request access to device features only when needed for app functionality:
- Location: used to record travel routes, calculate travel distance, display maps, and tag travel records with location.
- Background Location: used only while travel route tracking is enabled, so routes can continue recording when the app is not on screen.
- Photos: used to select profile photos, travel photos, and images you choose to save in the app.
- Camera: used to scan receipts and capture travel-related images.
- Motion Activity: used to improve route accuracy by detecting real movement and reducing stationary route noise.
- Notifications: optional, used for travel-related reminders and app updates after you grant permission.
You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features may not work if a required permission is disabled.
5. Private User Content
Nomi stores user-created content, such as travel logs, routes, photos, notes, receipts, price comparison records, and profile stickers, for the signed-in user's private use. The app does not provide public posting, public feeds, public comments, public user browsing, following, direct messaging, or user-to-user sharing. Your content is not visible to other users through Nomi.
6. Third-Party Services
Nomi uses third-party service providers to operate app features:
- Firebase and Google services for authentication, cloud database, cloud storage, analytics, diagnostics, App Check, and Cloud Functions.
- Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In as optional sign-in providers.
- Mapbox for map display and map-related functionality.
- Foursquare and OpenTripMap for place search and travel context.
- FlightAware or similar providers for flight-related information.
- Exchange-rate providers and Korea Eximbank API for currency information.
Requests to third-party place, flight, and exchange-rate providers may be routed through authenticated Firebase Cloud Functions to help protect API keys and limit abuse. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
7. Data Storage and Security
User data is stored using Firebase services. Firestore and Storage security rules are designed so signed-in users can access only their own user data. Nomi also uses Firebase App Check and authenticated server endpoints where applicable to help protect backend APIs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable technical measures to protect user data.
8. Account Deletion and Data Retention
You can delete your account in the app from Settings - Delete Account. When you request account deletion, your account is marked for deletion and you are signed out. You can sign in again within 7 days to cancel the pending deletion request and restore your account. After the 7-day deletion window, a scheduled Firebase Cloud Function permanently deletes the Firebase Authentication account and associated Firestore and Storage data, unless retention is legally required or needed to resolve security, fraud, or abuse issues.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain personal data processing. To make a privacy request, contact us using the email address below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Children
Nomi is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child without required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
11. International Data Processing
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence, depending on where our service providers operate.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes materially affect your privacy rights or how we process personal information, we will provide notice through the app or another reasonable method. The effective date above indicates the latest version.
