Terms of Use
Nomi enforces a zero-tolerance policy for abusive, unlawful, harmful, or objectionable use. Private content or accounts may be restricted, removed, or escalated when they violate these rules or create safety, legal, security, or platform risk.
1. Service Overview
Nomi (the “Service”) is a private, single-user travel companion. It helps you create private travel logs, record travel routes and a stop-by-stop timeline, save photos, videos and memos, automatically save new camera photos into the matching trip, import a past trip from photos taken on its dates, scan receipts and extract amounts, compare prices of an item across different stores, manage travel plans, search places and flight-related information, find nearby currency exchanges, ATMs and banks on the FX Map with walking directions, view your trips and trip photos on maps, and check exchange-rate information. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms, Privacy Policy, and Location Policy.
2. Account, Authentication & Security
You may sign in with email, Google, Apple, or other supported providers. We process account identifiers, authentication tokens, display name, profile information, and related security records to create and protect your account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may browse parts of the Service as a guest without an account; creating travel records requires signing in.
3. Data We Collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect or store:
- Account data: user ID, email address, sign-in provider, display name, profile image
- Travel data: trip title, country, dates, plans, notes, itinerary items, accommodations, tickets, and memos
- Location and route data: GPS coordinates, timestamps, accuracy and speed of each recorded point, route points, cleaned and road-matched route lines per trip day, automatic stop markers, and map camera/search context
- Media and content: photos and videos you add, their thumbnails, captions, notes, profile image, saved preferences, and local app settings. Media files are backed up to cloud storage in your private account so they can be restored on a new install
- Photos-library data (only when you use Automatic Photo Saving or Past Trip Import): local asset identifiers, capture timestamps, each photo’s embedded GPS coordinates when present, and camera metadata (camera make and model, software version, capture time) that is checked on your device
- Receipt data: receipt images, OCR text, merchant text, amount, currency, payment time, memo, and related scan metadata
- Price-comparison data: product name, per-store prices, currency, optional store name, address, city, country, coordinates, photos, and notes you add to compare an item across stores
- Search and lookup data: place, map, FX Map, exchange-rate, event/banner, and flight-related search inputs needed to return results. FX Map saved places and recently viewed places are stored on your device
- Notification data (only if you allow notifications): notification permission, your notification settings, and a device push token
- Device and app data: app events, diagnostics, crash-related data, language, notification settings, and security signals
4. How We Use Data
We use data to provide and improve the Service, including authentication, travel log storage, route recording and display, route clean-up and road matching, map rendering, itinerary and memo management, automatic photo saving and past trip import, backing up and restoring your media, receipt recognition, price comparison, place, FX Map and flight-related lookup, walking directions, exchange-rate display, notifications you enable, abuse prevention, account deletion, customer support, analytics, service reliability, security, and legal compliance. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use precise location data for third-party advertising.
5. Location Information Policy
If you allow location access, the Service may collect precise GPS coordinates, timestamps, route samples, and inferred stops to show your current position, draw travel routes, create travel memories, and analyze your own travel history. Background location is used only when you enable route tracking for an active trip. While you are moving, points are recorded more densely so that side streets and short detours are captured; the route is then cleaned on your device (places where you stayed are merged into a single stop and GPS jitter is removed) before it is drawn. To make the line follow real streets, only the parts of a route recorded with poor GPS accuracy are sent to Mapbox for road matching; well-measured parts are kept as recorded.
With your permission, device motion and activity data (for example walking or in a vehicle) are processed on your device to detect when you are actually moving and to adjust how often points are recorded; this motion data is used on-device and is not stored on our servers. When route tracking detects that you stopped somewhere, the Service may automatically look up a nearby place name for that stop using the map/place providers described in Section 9 or your device’s geocoder; only the stop’s coordinates are sent for this lookup. When you use the FX Map, your current location is used to find nearby currency exchanges, ATMs and banks, and your current location and chosen destination are used to show walking directions. When Automatic Photo Saving is on and a saved photo does not contain its own location, your device’s current location may be used as a fallback so the photo can be placed on your trip map. Your trip photos may be shown at their locations on the maps inside the app; these maps are visible only to you. Route and location data are stored in your private account and are not shared with other users.
You can disable location permission in iOS Settings at any time. Some features will not work without location access.
6. Photos, Videos, Camera, Receipts & OCR
When you use camera, photo library, or receipt features, the Service processes the images and videos you choose or capture. Media you add to a trip, and its thumbnails, are stored in cloud storage under your private account so they can be restored after reinstalling the app or on a new device. Receipt OCR may extract merchant text, amounts, currency, date/time, and memo-related information. Do not upload receipts, photos, or documents containing sensitive personal information unless you want them stored in your travel record.
7. Automatic Photo Saving
Automatic Photo Saving is an optional feature that is off by default. When you turn it on, the Service asks for permission to read your Photos library and then watches only for new photos taken after the moment you enabled the feature. Photos taken before you enabled it are ignored.
Only photos you take with this device’s built-in Camera are saved. To tell them apart, the Service reads each new photo’s metadata on your device (camera make and model, the software version that captured it, and its capture time). Screenshots, screen recordings, and images you download or receive from other apps or people are skipped. This metadata check happens on your device and the metadata of skipped photos is not uploaded.
Each camera photo is only added to a trip when all of the following are true: (a) you have an active trip whose dates match the photo’s capture time, and (b) a location is available for the photo, either from the photo’s own EXIF location or, if the photo has none, from your device’s current location while the app is running. Photos that do not match an active trip, or that have no available location, are skipped and are not uploaded or stored anywhere by the Service.
You can turn Automatic Photo Saving off at any time in the app. You can also revoke Photos access entirely in iOS Settings, which will stop the feature immediately. Because iOS only allows the app to read new photos while the app is opened or running in the foreground, some photos may be imported the next time you open the app rather than instantly.
8. Past Trip Import
When you add a past trip, the Service reads photos in your Photos library whose capture time falls within the dates you choose (up to a fixed maximum), along with their capture times and embedded locations, to build that trip’s records, timeline and route. Only photos from the selected dates are imported into the trip; other photos are not read into the trip or uploaded. You can delete imported records at any time.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service uses third-party service providers, including Firebase/Google services for authentication, database, cloud storage of your media, analytics, and infrastructure, Google Sign-In for login, Apple Sign-In where available, Mapbox for map display, route road matching, and walking directions, Apple Maps for place search and address lookup, Foursquare and OpenTripMap for place search, FlightAware or similar providers for flight-related lookup, exchange-rate providers (such as the Export-Import Bank of Korea) for currency data, and Apple Push Notification service (with Firebase Cloud Messaging where enabled) for notifications you allow. These providers may process data according to their own terms and privacy practices as necessary to provide their services.
Requests to third-party place, flight, and exchange-rate providers are routed through our authenticated server so that third-party API keys are not embedded in the app. Map display, road matching, and walking-direction requests are sent from your device directly to Mapbox, and place search and address lookup through Apple Maps are sent from your device directly to Apple; these requests contain only the coordinates or search text needed to return a result.
10. Private User Content
You are responsible for photos, videos, captions, notes, profile information, receipts, travel plans, route records, and other private content you add to your account. You must have the legal right to store that content and must not infringe privacy, copyright, trademark, portrait, publicity, or other rights of others. You grant the Service a limited license to host, display, process, and transmit your private content only as needed to operate the Service for your account. Your content is stored under your account and is not exposed to other users of the Service.
11. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Service to store, create, upload, or promote:
- Sexual, pornographic, exploitative, violent, hateful, discriminatory, or harassing content
- Content that sexualizes, harms, targets, or endangers minors
- Impersonation, defamation, doxxing, stalking, threats, or non-consensual private information
- Illegal activity, weapons trafficking, drug trafficking, self-harm instructions, or scams
- Spam, phishing, malware, platform manipulation, scraping, or attempts to bypass safety, rate-limit, or authentication systems
- Content that violates applicable law or another person’s rights
12. No Social or User-to-User Features
The Service is designed strictly for private travel logging and personal planning. It does not include public feeds, public profiles, public comments, direct messaging, followers, friend lists, in-app sharing of your trips with other users, or any other user-to-user interaction. Content you save — including trips, routes, photos, receipts, and notes — is visible only to your own signed-in account. If you use “Share Trip”, the Service only prepares a short text summary (trip title, dates, country, and number of records) and hands it to the iOS share sheet; you choose where it goes, and that destination’s own terms apply. If you believe your account, private data, or the Service is being misused, contact nomitravel26@gmail.com. Accounts that seriously violate these Terms may be restricted, suspended, or permanently banned.
13. Retention & Deletion
We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce policies, maintain security, and keep backups for a limited period. You may delete individual travel records where supported. You may permanently delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion is available to all users and removes or anonymizes related account data, profile data, travel history, route data, media files in cloud storage, receipt data, saved preferences, and other associated records unless retention is legally required, needed for security, or required to resolve an active dispute. You can sign in again within 7 days to cancel a pending deletion request and restore your account. After that window, deletion is completed automatically by a scheduled cleanup job.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain personal data processing. You may also opt out of sale or sharing where applicable. You can withdraw consent for location, motion, Photos, camera, and notification access at any time in iOS Settings. To exercise privacy rights, contact us using the contact address below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
15. Children and Minors
The Service is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum digital consent age required in your jurisdiction. If we learn that a child has provided personal data without required consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
16. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live, including countries where our service providers operate. We rely on appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards where required by law.
17. Financial, Travel & Map Information Disclaimer
Exchange rates, receipt extraction, travel recommendations, maps, recorded and road-matched routes, walking directions, nearby exchange/ATM/bank listings, opening hours, fees, and location details may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. They are provided for convenience only and are not financial, legal, tax, safety, or travel advice. You should verify important information independently before making decisions.
18. Service Changes, Suspension & Termination
We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue parts of the Service when necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or product changes. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create legal, security, or safety risk.
19. Liability & Disputes
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We are not responsible for third-party services, lost data, inaccurate maps, travel disruption, exchange-rate errors, or indirect damages. Disputes are governed by the laws applicable to the operator identified in the App Store listing, unless mandatory consumer protection laws require otherwise.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. If changes materially affect your rights or data processing, we will provide notice through the app or another reasonable method. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
